The Universalist Unitarian Church of Cambria put together a wonderful memorial for our father. It was held on Saturday June 15th at their church in downtown Cambria. My family including Jan, Liz, Nicholas, Cameron, and Dan Drove up Friday afternoon. Dave and his family, Keri-Ann, Nicholas, and David stayed with Pat in Cambria. My son Matt made it up Saturday morning and stayed the weekend.. Brother Ben ( who I haven't seen in years) made the trip as well. My family and Dave's met at the Main Street Grill for dinner. Afterwards we met at Dad & Pats house .
After the memorial, which included refreshments, we all headed to the Elephant Seal Turnout in San Simeon. After a short stay (it was windy), Liz, Nicholas, Cameron and Dan headed home. the rest of us drove to Moonstone Beach at Shamel Park. The kids had a blast playing on the beach with Ben .
We said our good byes to Ben (who had to get back for work). Jan, Matt and I headed to Linn's Restaurant in Cambria for a wonderful dinner and then to Pat's for a visit.
The next morning Jan, Matt and I drove up to Nitt Witt Ridge and took the tour. Nitt Witt Ridge is an old house that was built entirely from junk. The owner Arthur Harold Beal ( also known as Der Tinkerpaw and Captain Nitt Witt) worked as a garbage man and brought home stuff everyday. the house is really amazing. After he had become ill, the house was condemned and he lost it . It is now maintained by the Art Beal Foundation and is a registered historical landmark.
Next we drove to Cayucos for some window shopping and ate at the Sea Shanty. Dave and the kids met us at the park and we hiked down to the beach to explore the tide pools. Dave and kids took off for home, so we said our good byes and headed to Morrow Bay
We all did some shopping before arriving at the Windows on the Water restaurant for my father's day dinner. the food was outstanding. It is located on the harbor with a wonderful view of Morrow Rock (see below)
